Elements Of Kerala Duration: 13 Nights /14 Days Calicut airport-Wayanad-Guruvayur-Athirapally-Munnar-Thekkady – Alleppey-Cochin airport
Day 1 - Calicut Airport-Wayanad Arrive at Calicut and transfer to Wayanad. Check in to hotel. Evening at leisure.
Day 2 - Wayanad After breakfast visit Edakkal Caves. The two caves are located at a height of 1000m on Ambukutty Mala near Ambalavayal. The New Stone Age pictorial writings on the walls of these natural caves at Edakkal are evidence of the civilization that existed in these regions in prehistoric times. Overnight at Wayanad
Day 3 - Wayanad-Calicut After breakfast transfer to Calicut. During the afternoon visit Pazhassiraja Museum & Art Gallery, Kappad Beach where Vasco Da Gama landed in 1498 and the prominent port of Beypore. Overnight in Calicut.
Day 4 - Calicut- Cheruthuruthy After breakfast free time which you can dedicate to ayurvedic massage. Afternoon transfer to Cheruthuruthy. Check in to the hotel. Evening free.
Day 5 - Cheruthuruthy – Guruvayoor Athirapally After breakfast spend morning with the masters of Kalamandalam School. “A Day with the Masters” is a pilgrimage to the most sacred temple of arts, giving a world class experience to the visitors, with a unique menu of presentations that bring out the grandeur of the institution. Drive to the temple town of Guruvayoor and visit Kerala's popular Sri Krishna temple and the colorful shops nearby. The walls of the sanctum are inlaid with exquisite mural paintings and carvings. Only Hindus are allowed inside the temple. Visit the temple's elephant sanctuary. It is situated within the compound of an old palace nearby and houses more then 50 temple elephants that are decorated for various festivals. During festivals the temples of Thrissur Pooram at Trichur 30 caparisoned elephants decorated with gold ornaments line up on opposite sides and traditional music (Panchvadhyam) is played. Later proceed to Athirapally waterfalls. Check in to hotel.
Day 6 - Athirapally Day at leisure to enjoy the surroundings of waterfalls and rain forest.
Day 7 - Athirapally-Munnar After breakfast drive to the hill resort of Munnar for a 2-night stay (alt. 1,600 m). Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the natural surroundings.
Day 8 - Munnar Munnar After breakfast visit Eravikulam National Park, natural habitat of the rare mountain goat - Nilgiri Tahr and home of Anamudi (2,695m) the highest peak of South India. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 9 - Munnar-Thekkady After breakfast drive to Periyar. The scenic drive takes you through green hills with forests, plantations of tea, spices and rubber, streams and waterfalls. On the way visit some of the spice plantations. Check in to hotel.
Day 10 - Thekkady This is a dawn to dusk range hiking and rafting program through some of the richest forest tracts of Periyar Tiger Reserve. Starting at 8 am from the boat landing, a mosaic of habitats will be traversed before the party gets into rafts made of bamboos. The forests are rich in bird life and arboreal animals like giant squirrel and Nilgiri langur. The rafting is for about three hours and one gets a panoramic view of forest-clad hills reflected on the lake. Animals like elephant, gaur and sambar are sighted keeping close to the edges of the lake. The team hitchhikes back to the boat landing by about 5 pm. An armed guard and 4 guides will accompany tourists. Tea, snacks and packed lunch will be served enroute.
Day 11 - Thekkady- Alleppey The Kerala backwaters consist of a complex network of lagoons, lakes, & canals and are best experienced while slowly punting down the labyrinth of canals in a traditional thatch-roofed houseboat, known as 'Kettuvallam'. Embark your houseboat. See life on the banks, lush green rice fields, and coconut groves with occasional temple or church as you cruise through the canals. An experience you will savor for a long time.
Day 12 - Alleppey–Cochin Breakfast and proceed to Cochin - the commercial capital and the most cosmopolitan city of Kerala. Afternoon free to go around the city for shopping. Evening Kathakali Dance Show. Overnight at Cochin.
Day 13 - Cochin Your morning sightseeing tour of Kochi includes a visit to the Dutch Palace and Synagogue. En route see the famous Chinese fishing nets.
Day 14 - Cochin Depart Transfer to the airport or to a hotel on the beach.
